Preparing for Wars with Netflix
Did you see the big news yesterday? No, I’m not talking about Matt Lauer being fired from NBC. Although to be honest, everything surrounding all the harassment has turned into a war of its own. That’s as much as you’ll hear me talk about it so let’s move on. I’m referred to something more important to me: the first sneak peak at Avengers: Infinity War!! Marvel released a teaser trailer yesterday. Have you seen it yet?
As you may recall, I had the opportunity to walk the red carpet at Captain America: Civil War and interview Chris Evans, the Russo brothers, Paul Bettany, Emily VanCamp, Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen. I’ve encouraged you to prepare for Thor by using games such as Marvel Pictopia to test your knowledge and jar your memory of all things relating to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I’ve heard some people say they enjoy the Captain America series or have watched Thor or perhaps the Spider-Man movies but it’s important to immerse yourself in all of it to see the nuances that run throughout the many story lines. How do you do that? Use Netflix to help you do your homework so when Avengers: Infinity War releases on May 4th, you will be ready. I particularly encourage you to watch Civil War, Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. Get up to speed by also watching Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.! This will also help you prepare for the February 16th release of Black Panther and July’s Ant-Man and the Wasp!
However, there’s a more pressing war that will be upon us in only a couple weeks. We need to prepare! On December 15th, Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be in theaters. Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, surely you’ve seen one of the trailers, but here it is again in case you hadn’t.
With a story line dating back to my childhood, I’m confident it is going to be quite a thriller as unanswered questions hopefully get answers. (Have there been enough hints for us to figure out who Rey inherited her abilities from?)
Refresh some of your memories by watching Rogue One: A Star Wars Story on Netflix. It’s the most recent episode in the series, having released last year. If you only see these when they’re in the theater, chances are you’ve forgotten some key details and it wouldn’t hurt to watch it again before heading out to see The Last Jedi. As a bonus, you’ll be closer to being ready for Solo: A Star Wars Story slated for May.
The world doesn’t revolve solely around wars (although Star Wars and Infinity War are kind of the center of the cinematic world). It’s important to remember the importance of nature as well. Stream the lovable Paddington Bear movie in advance of the mid-January release of the sequel, Paddington 2.
2018 is a year filled with sequels to Transformers, Mary Poppins, Fantastic Beasts, Goosebumps, Gnomeo & Juliet, Maze Runner, The Incredible, Jurassic World, Pacific Rim and more! Keep an eye on Netflix to see if these will be available before the movies release.
Do you do “homework” to prepare for sequels?
I do have some catching up to do on those Marvel films. I’m glad I can stream them with Netflix!
These shows are all up my sons alley! I cannot wait to watch come Christmas break!
Oh now that is just awesome. I am going to have to show this to my family. They are going to be so excited.
How exciting is this? It is such a good idea to refresh your memory about a movie before the new ones come out!
Wow that looks like a pretty awesome show. I have not watched much Netflix in recent times, it seems I pay for it so the kids can have it. I must change that, soon!
I am all caught up with the Marvel movies. I love them SO much! I’ve seen them all multiple times.
I’m a fan of ALL the wars on Netflix! All of these movies are absolutely amazing!
I had no idea that so many sequels were coming out this coming year! I usually watch the previous films before seeing the newest installment.
I definitely like to see the first / second / etc. movie in a series before the sequel comes out. A lot of times my kids were too young to see the earlier movies, so it is the perfect opportunity to see the first one. So many great movies coming out soon!
This sounds like some sequels we need to be watching on Family night. I would love to see a lot of these. Thanks for sharing.
