Think Outside the Box When You’re Deciding on This Year’s Stocking Stuffers!
I’ll be the first to admit that when it comes to getting gifts for major holidays, the big gift is always the first challenge I like to tackle. After that, I work on the supplemental gifts and wrap it up (usually at the last minute) with the essentials (like socks and non-fun stuff) along with stocking stuffers. Often an afterthought of random stuff, we have included a mix of small gifts and, of course, candy. However, as I mentioned in our list of 10 non-candy gifts for Easter baskets, health concerns and allergies have shifted the focus for many people away from candy-based gifts. We’ll continue to support that concept with this guide that includes mostly pocket-sized games plus a few other ideas.
If you haven’t done so with the other guides, click through any logo to read more about that particular item and continue to join us daily as we launch holiday giveaways to promote the excellent products and awesome sponsors.
Over the past couple of weeks, we have provided several holiday gift guides ranging in ideas, products, age ranges, complexity and theme. We launched this year’s guides with a focus on family games then moved into more gift suggestions including lists of STEM gifts, games for teens and adults, party games, home and electronics gifts, games for 2 players, more family game ideas, toys and games for younger kids, and games for tweens. Between all these guides, we’ve provided a lot of suggestions and hope they help with your holiday shopping and personal wish-list creation.
Fallen Treasures
CardLords
A quick paced take on classic games like Hearts and Spades, filled with light strategy and maximum cuteness. 2-6 players ages 7+ will take turns playing unique treasure cards to show off their favorite items. Watch out or an octopus may take it all! If two or more octopuses show up, be ready for a tentacle tangle where treasures go flying everywhere! The player with the most treasure at the end wins!
Bugs on Rugs
Kids Table BG
Take turns drafting adorable bugs to your hand to make sets. End of the round actions make this drafting game completely unique! At the end of the game, the player who has made the most valuable hand of creepy crawlers WINS!
Dirty Pig
North Star Games
Can you be the first player to get all your pigs dirty? In Dirty Pig, getting dirty is easy; staying dirty is the challenge. Pesky rain and annoying farmers attempt to clean your pigs. Protect your pigs from getting clean, because, after all, a dirty pig is a happy pig!
Snack-in-the-Box
Precidio Design
Snack in the Box is the coolest snack container with twin chambers each holding 6 ounces of your favorite dry snack. Using USA-made Tritan, the body lets you fill with 2 different types of snacks, and the Tritan pop-up lids let you easily pour out the snack from each chamber individually. What the Heck?
AMIGO Games
What the Heck is a card game filled with highs and lows. To win this game, you will need to read your opponents minds–when you figure out which card they are about to play you will have your chance to win. On each turn, players flip over cards and compete to collect the most points. But everyone starts with the same cards, so play yours carefully if you want to win.
Jeopardy/Wheel of Fortune Card Games
Endless Games
Jeopardy, TV’s most popular quiz show, which is now celebrating its 55th anniversary, and Wheel of Fortune, America’s favorite word game show, are both in card game form. Each game is played just like the TV shows with bonus rounds.
Bite Your Tongue

Munchkin Mighty Monsters
Steve Jackson Games
A fast-playing card game based in the world of Steve Jackson’s best-selling Munchkin. Play cards by matching either the rank or color of the last card played. A game of transparent parody and machination brings the misery and suffering of Gloom to the Umpteen Kingdoms! Featuring clear plastic cards and the all-new Porcelain Throne mechanic adds delightful regicide to Gloom. Ages 13+.
Dragon Slayer
Indie Boards & Cards
Dragon Slayer is a new push-your-luck game that’s a deceptively difficult challenge. Like all great PYL games, the rules are simple, with you repeating the Dragon Hunt until you decide to stop. The very interesting twist is the player challenges. The ability to challenge — and rewards for passing or failing when challenged — add a dimension to everything that you do on your turn. What order do you go after dragons? When do you stop? When do you challenge? Who do you challenge? How do you get others not to challenge you?!
As we wrap up this final guide of 2019, we want to extend our gratitude for your support of SahmReviews.
