Is it a Snack or an Ingredient? Both!
Cuh-runch. Chomp. Nom nom nom.
Sorry if I got crumbs on your computer. I’m snacking on these new Twistos and hoping my girls don’t catch me. I promised to share but seriously, I can’t. It’s for work. Uh-huh. It is. I have a video to prove it. Gaby Dalkin, chef, cookbook author and food/lifestyle writer from WhatsGabyCooking.com tells us a little about this tasty snack…err, ingredient. Whatever you want to call it.
Twistos come in three flavors: Parmesan & Garlic, Asiago and Bruschetta. These are thicker than a chip. I would say they are similar in size/thickness to Melba toast but light in texture like a crouton. The Asiago ones remind me of the croutons that show up on Caesar salads at fancy restaurants. I did let the girls sample them and to no surprise, they liked them as much as I did. Actually, they asked if I would pack them in their school lunches. We all agreed that the Bruschetta Twistos are best described as “pizza-flavored croutons.” While they make a great ingredient in recipes, they’re awesome all by themselves. I keep telling myself I’m going to add them to a salad but they never seem to make it there.
As Chef Gaby mentioned in the video, she uses them as an ingredient in dishes such as ‘breaded’ chicken. Twistos can be a substitute for bread crumbs or crackers in a variety of recipes. Imagine using the Bruschetta flavor in a basic meatloaf. Yum. Add zing to a salad with the Parmesan and Garlic or even the Asiago. Put a spin on your classic Chicken Parmesan by utilizing any of the Twistos varieties! If I wasn’t so busy snacking on them plain, I might actually be able to make something using them.
On the go? Grab a bag. Picnic? Grab a bag. Looking to jazz up a recipe. Grab a bag… or two. (or three.) Add them to your grocery list because they really are worth trying! In the meantime, enter to win a Twistos On-the-Go Kit! The prize pack Includes insulated lunch bag with cooler pack, filtered water bottle, dunk-n-dip snack container, smart planet collapsible lunch container and (6) bags of Twistos. Yes, six bags. Entering is easy using the form and (as with our other giveaways) you can enter daily!
Would you be more likely to consume these alone, with a dip or as an ingredient?

I would maybe trying to add them to something like my chicken when I’m baking it, like shred the chicken up, and maybe add this into the mixture with some cheese, and maybe some onion or something. Oh the ideas of what they could be used with
I’d use these in a cheese ball recipe, mixing crushed Twistos in with the nuts that go on the outside of the cheese ball.
