Top 40 Music That’s Safe for All
What’s a parent to do when their 9-going-on-14 daughter wants to be a pop star? Besides pray? Today’s pop music sure isn’t what it was when I was their age and I’m sure my parents said the same thing about what I listened to. Back in the 70’s and 80’s if you wanted a popular song that was remade to be suitable for a preteen’s ears, about the only choice my parents had was something by the Chipmunks and distributed on television by K-Tel records. Fortunately that isn’t the case any longer.
We have been big fans of the Kidz Bop series ever since finding a large stack of them for sale at our local library book sale. We managed to pick up Volumes 1-18 for only 50 cents each! Ever since we have religiously purchased the newest issue as soon as it comes out. This was very easy to keep track of as both girls would see the commercials and note the EXACT date it was to be released. We still like having the CD version, and use iTunes to rip them into mp3’s for uploading to our iPods.
The latest issue is Volume 24 and is probably one of the best to date. This time we received a copy to review and it immediately became our girls’ go-to playlist. On this CD, here’s what you’ll find:

Yes, you can listen to these songs for free on the radio (which usually does a decent job of cleansing the music for consumption), but if you’re like us and listen to Sirius/XM, you know that you’re never sure which version of a song will be played. There are just some words and phrases that I’m not ready to discuss with my daughters.
This is where Kidz Bop comes in. I 100% know the songs are appropriate for their age. In fact, they are all sung by kids very close in age to them. They’ve become so popular, they’re now making their own music videos!
If you’re looking for a gift idea for that pre-teen child in your life, I encourage you to consider the Kidz Bop line. Now, if we can only get a cleaned up version of the classics by AC/DC.

Even though my teen is 14, I still like to monitor some of what she listens to. It’s great to have some family friendly music for us.
I think my son and my niece will like the Kidz Bop series, Volume 24 in particular. They know almost all of the songs on the list. 🙂

I like your comment “besides PRAY”… because I believe in prayer. My daughters love music as well. They are now 10 and 11 and I’ve encouraged them to learn the classics, the basics. They both play the guitar and the piano and my 10 year old composes songs. They learn worship songs for children and hymns, too. We don’t listen to the radio anymore and I’m in shock because I don’t know a single song from your list hehe. Thank you for this great post!
