That’s Their Budget So Make Them Spend It
I’m an accountant by trade so when people talk about budgets, I tend to listen. I find myself often repeating “A budget is just a spending guideline. Just because you budget that much money doesn’t mean you need to spend that much.” This holds true in both professional and personal situations. Well, as an accountant, it drives me crazy when I hear people say that their work budget is $xx.xx so they need to spend that much. Then spends it frivolously just because.
Yet every once in a while, I find the rare opportunity to say “That’s their budget, so make them spend it.” Why on earth would I contradict myself? Go against what I believe as an accountant and a financially-conscious person? Because it’s for a good cause. General Mills is donating $2 million to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. In addition, they will also donate $1, up to $20,000, each time a comment of encouragement is posted, a virtual flower bouquet is sent, or a story is shared on PinkTogether.com through October 31st. Well, that’s tomorrow so click over quickly to PinkTogether.com and participate. It’s quick and easy and anything you do will help them get a $1 closer to hitting their budgeted amount! (…and that’s okay with me)
MyBlogSpark sent me a Pink Together Gift Pack and asked that I spread the word about the Pink Together website. I commend General Mills for their campaign to financially contribute to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure program. However, the more important focus should be placed on the efforts to provide a community for people to connect. A place where people impacted by breast cancer can go for support and information and most of all, inspiration. With that in mind, MyBlogSpark is offering an Inspiring Hope gift pack to one of my readers!
The Prize: Inspiring Hope Gift Pack (Valued at approx $60). Gift pack includes the following Susan G. Komen for the Cure themed items: a charm bracelet, a leather strap key chain, a travel tumbler mug, note cards and an adorable cinch bag to carry it all!Participants –

What a fantastic site. I volunteered at Race for the Cure in my community and it is so inspiring to read these stories as well.
I thought that the website is very inspirational.

I immediately thought of my grandmother who passed away from BC and how much I wished she was alive now so I could show her this site.

The first thing I thought about the site was how inspiring it was and how much it is needed for those with cancer and for those who have loved ones with it or who just want to offer support and hope.JD

The first thing I thought of was how great it is that so many people have come together, but yet we still seem so far from ending the pain of this disease

Love the virtual flower bouquet feature. Very inspiring site!
What was my first thought? Well, after waiting almost 10 MINUTES for the site to download (and it NEVER takes me this long on other sites!) I then found out I had to have an AdobeFlash10 to play it – which I do not have on this computor — so I was frustrated, to say the least!!! I am a con't supporter of the 'Race for the Cure' for the last 7 yrs now, and the race in Little Rock is

I think it's great that so many people can come together to help support the fight against breast cancer. My sister-in-law had breast cancer 20 years ago. Because of lack of informatiton and treatment options at that time she chose to let the cancer run it's course.

My grandmother is my true inspiration for supporting breast cancer awareness. She lost her battle to it after having a double masectomy when I was a child. Her courage and strength motivates me to do my monthly exams and live my life to its fullest!

In December I will celebrate 6 years of being cancer free after a diagnosis of breast cancer. I can't begin to tell you how encouraging it is to read so many stories of strength and hope. Thank you for sharing this on your blog.
