Today’s Best Wireless Earbuds
Isn’t technology wonderful? Every day things get smaller, faster, more powerful and cheaper. Every time I turn around I see something I cannot live without. That is until a month later when something better catches my eye.
Last August I picked up a pair of over-the-ear Bluetooth headphones made by Kinivo. They are still my go-to choice for when I need a wireless solution, but are a little heavy on the ears. Typically I grab them when I’m mowing, working in the yard or going for a quick run around the block. I hate messing with wires, and these allowed me to work without fearing I would catch the cord on something.
Then in January I had the chance to try out a new wired solution from SMS Audio that included a heart rate monitor! In preparation for warmer weather, these allowed me to simplify my life by eliminating the need for a dedicated HRM. Plus the audio was amazing. These were my new workout buds.
But now something else has caught my eye, and it’s at a price point that won’t break the bank. The Silicon Devices COMFORT+ Bluetooth Earphones may just be what I need to enjoy the freedom of a wireless earbud without the strain associated with heavier headphones.
So what makes these so different from anything else we’ve tried? Take note of the cord – there’s only one of them connecting the two earbuds! No long cord connecting to your phone, this one just wraps around the back of your neck. And in a size not much larger than your standard wired earbuds.
My first thought was the battery cannot be large enough to have them last for any length of time. While I haven’t run them to failure, I did have them on for well over 90 minutes without dying out. Let’s just say they outlasted me…
The Silicon Devices COMFORT+ Bluetooth Earphones come with different sized rubber covers to accommodate any sized ear. You’ll also notice the odd-looking moon-shaped piece – that’s the ear lock! Different sizes are included that allow you to tuck it into the folds of your ear for a firm fit. I didn’t have the need to add it to mine as they stayed in place just fine without them. I’m guessing if I were doing more than running, this extra help keeping them in place would probably be necessary.
But design is only 50% of the battle, how do they sound? Let me preface this by saying I firmly believe that a wired headphone will always provide better sound than a comparable Bluetooth version. When comparing these earbuds to other wireless solutions, they sound as good (if not better) than any we have tried. Part of this is due to the fact that they are in-ear earbuds (as opposed to over-the-ear), but much is also thanks to the use of the latest HD sound chip technology.
You can also answer the phone, change the volume and skip through music using buttons on the earpieces. Charging is simple using the included USB cable and everything stows nicely in the zippered travel case (also included).
We did have a complaint however, but not with the product itself. The packaging is minimalist and doesn’t have the same quality feel as the headphones. The included instructions are very poor and obviously written by someone who’s native language isn’t English. But these are minor complaints and don’t impact the usability or quality of the product.
You’ll find the Silicon Devices COMFORT+ Bluetooth Earphones on Amazon for under $50 shipped. Right now by using the coupon code F3J3PFPD you can save an additional 10% off the purchase price! If you’re looking for a wireless earbud solution, this is your best choice. Well, today that is. As I said before, let’s see what next month brings!
I like that you are able to customize these. I always have a hard time finding earbuds that are comfortable in my ears.
These look great! So glad to know about them
These would be perfect for when little man and I are on our walks. For both him and me.
Wait did I read that right? These have a built in heart rate monitor? Wow! Okay I will absolutely check these out personally. Thanks for the info!
Sorry Joely – you didn’t read that right. 😉
The HRM ones are from a previous review for wired buds from SMS – http://www.sahmreviews.com/2015/01/intel-sms-audio-biosport-earbuds.html
Ah well now you see how I function without coffee. 🙂 I will check out the other review too! Thanks.
I like that they come with pieces to customize the fit to your ear. Wonder if they would work for kids ears? We need a good bluetooth earbud for our kids.
What a great product. I unfortunately bought a cheap pair last month, and the entire phone call sounded like it was echoing. I guess you get what you pay for, right.
These look really comfortable. This is something I could use while out walking.
I’ve never been a fan of earbuds, because I find them so uncomfortable. But these silicon ones look like they might be worth a try.
These would be perfect for me. Most of my family and friends don’t like earbuds because they won’t stay in but I seem to have the perfect-shaped ears for them. I especially like them for running/hiking. The fact that they’re wireless is just icing on the cake.
I have a pair and love them! I wore them last night jamming out while I cooked dinner.
I have tiny, tiny ear canals so I totally appreciate the different size options. I like how these stay put too.
These are so nice and I need ’em. They’re perfect for my workouts because they look like they’d stay ( even if I’m a sweat machine ). I just need to make sure that we have this brand here in PH.
How cool! I’m looking for a pair of ear buds, I want to try this because it works with bluetooth.
Those look like great earbuds. I like the moon for the snug fit.
Those look fabulous! I have a few races this summer… I am totally going to need these for training mixes!
Need new ones to run.
I’ve been looking for comfortable earbuds for some time….my ears are very small. I’m going to give this one a try. Thanks for the review!
I have been looking for a good pair of wireless headphones for working out. I will have to try these.
Have not heard of these but seem like they are pretty good
it is hard to find ones that work well/ feel good while exercising.
