It’s amazing the things kids learn. Like any parent, I’ve been harping constantly about “Don’t leave the lights on or you’ll burn them out.” and “Don’t forget to turn off the water all the way or it wastes water.” I have finally found one that stuck… “Make sure you turn off the toy when you are done or the battery will wear out.” It’s happened a few times and when I’ve refused to replace the battery in the ones that use watch batteries, they got the hint.

But I was a little saddened to hear Miss K yell at Miss M not to push the button on her new Hal Moose Build-A-Bear because she didn’t want the battery to die. It’s my own fault for setting the stage though. She said to me one night that she was going to push the button all night long so his ears would light up all night. I said “You can push it as much as you like but if you push it constantly then the battery will die faster.” Miss K responded “Oh…” After hearing her comment to Miss M, I realized I had to undo what I had done.
