Great Contributions from Great Clips
I don’t know about you but when I see the back to school supplies start showing up in the Sunday paper, I’m torn on whether to be happy or sad. It is a definite sign that summer is quickly coming to a close. The kids are already bored with each other so it will be nice to give them a normal routine and new faces to see but it also means the end to random weekday family time at the movies, shopping or playing a board game.
Don’t get me wrong, the actual shopping for supplies isn’t bad. The kids love it and Nicole likes loading up on sale items to get us through the entire school year. We also purchase a variety of items requested by the teacher such as dry erase markers, index cards, hand sanitizer, Ziploc bags and facial tissue. At back to school night, we always check the teachers’ wish lists for other random items like prizes for an incentive box or supplies for a specific project. It’s only a few dollars here or there so we try to do our part.
Yet each year, our daughters come home with random announcements about how they had earned a free frozen yogurt or lunch with the teacher. Maybe even a new book. It always amazing me the amount of money from their own pockets that teachers lay out to make their classroom just right. On average, each year teachers spend $1,000 of their own money.
I’m sure that isn’t the norm though. Some school districts don’t have the funding to provide even the most basic of upgrades let alone extra incentives. I guess that’s why it is so fantastic when companies like Great Clips find ways to help teachers out. They are helping transform entire classrooms through Adopt-a-Classroom! Check out the video. The photo doesn’t do it justice.
With over 3,300 salons across the United States and Canada, Great Clips sees their fair share of families. Stylists hear stories and connect with customers every single day. So not only is Great Clips doing classroom makeovers and supporting Adopt-a-Classroom but they’re also giving away free supplies to people who enter their #GreatList contest. Each day, they are helping lighten the load by randomly selecting one winner to receive up to $100 worth of supplies they will need for school. In order to enter, all you have to do is upload your school supply list. They’re drawing a winner every day and the supplies will be shipped right to your door! As a bonus, you’ll receive a $2 coupon just for entering!
Remember being taught in school that it isn’t okay to cut in line? Well, Great Clips decided that sometimes it IS okay. They’ve created an app that allows customers to reserve their spot in line before they even get to the salon. It’s not the same as making an appointment – it’s literally just having someone hold your place in line – Digitally. As I mentioned before, Great Clips is showing school support by donating to Adopt-a-Classroom. From now until September 5, 2014, Great Clips will donate money (up to $20,000) each time someone downloads their Online Check-In app. Toss those old school “no cuts” rules aside, download the app and help Great Clips reach their donation target.
While you’re at it, mark one more thing off your back to school list and get the kids in for a haircut. Go upload your list, get the coupon then cut in line at your local salon. If the staff at the Bettendorf, Iowa location is an example of the quality of customer service across the company then it’s worth checking out. They’re always extremely friendly and helpful!
We don’t have Great Clips here in Boston. My boys do need a haircut in the worst way, though. School doesn’t start for 6 more weeks here, but they need cuts like NOW.
